A man sentenced for gold smuggling

Patna, May 17 (UNI) A special economic offences court here today awarded three year rigorous imprisonment to a man accused in a gold smuggling case.

Special Judge Shahid Khan also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on the convict.

According to the charges, Ajay Kumar Sah, a resident of East Champaran district, was arrested by custom officers in Hajipur on June 28, 2000 while carrying foreign made gold biscuits worth Rs 2,54,643 without paying custom duty.
