Undertrials leap off jail tower

Raipur, May 16 (UNI) An undertrial was killed and another severely injured when they attempted to escape by leaping off a watchtower in a high-security area of the Central Jail this afternoon.

Jail sources identified the duo as Shiv Prasad Sahu and Om Prakash alias Guddu, both charged with murder.

Sahu died on the spot while Guddu was rushed to the medical college hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.

Confirming the death, Director General (Jails) Vasudev Dubey claimed that the accused attempted suicide.
