Two killed in wall collapse

Rourkela, May 16 (UNI) Two persons, including a minor, were killed and as many injured when a compound wall of the Indian Oil stock-yard at Gopabandhupalli under plant site police station collapsed here last night.

Police said the wall on the western side collapsed following heavy rains that lashed the steel city for hours.One Gourab Paswan(19), son of Sanjay Paswan and Sandeep Yadav(8), son of Sankay Yadav, died on the spot.

Two more identified as Deepak Kumar(10)and Jamara Paswan(30) were injured and admitted at Rourkela Government Hospital.

Both Sandeep and Gourab were students of the Gopabandhupalli school and Rastriya Vidyalaya respectively.

An agitated mob kept the bodies till this afternoon on the spot demanding compensation of Rs 5 lakhs each to the victims' family.

Senior Indian Oil officials rushed to the spot to negotiate with the agitated people, police said.

District officials who reached the spot soon after the incident had announced payment of Rs 10,000 each to the deceaseds' families.
