Temperatures soar across India

Pune, May 16 (UNI) Heat wave conditions prevailed in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir and at isolated places in north west Rajasthan and Telangana.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of Assam and Meghalaya, east Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, south madhya Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and coastal and south interior Karnataka and were above normal in some parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Uttaranchal, Saurashtra and Kutch, Vidarbha, north interior Karnataka and Kerala. They were markedly below normal in east Uttar Pradesh and in some parts of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Orissa, Jharkhand and Bihar and below normal in some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat. They were normal over the rest of the country.

Heavy rains are likely to occur at many places in Orissa and most places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chattisgarh and coastal Andhra Pradesh and at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Telangana, Rayalseema, Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Heavy rains have occurred at many places in Orissa and very light rains have occured at isolated places in Uttaranchal, east Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Rains or thundershowers have occurred at many places in Jharkhand and most places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at few places in Gangetic West Bengal and at isolated places in Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, east Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and south interior Karnataka.
