Six prisoners injured in group clash
Balasore, May 16 (UNI) Six prisoners, including drug peddler Azad Parvez, sustained multiple injuries in a group clash inside the Balasore jail here yesterday.
The injured prisoners with profuse bleeding were rushed to District Headquarter hospital and later sent back to the jail after treatment.
Police said except one, all others were in jail custody on the charges of attempting to murder.
On being informed about the group clash inside the jail Balasore Superintendent of Police P S Ranpise rushed to the jail and brought the situation under control. Police had registered two separate cases under section 307 of IPC on the allegations of both the warring groups of prisoners.
Police had registered cases against eleven prisoners in connection with the group clash.
Sources said Azad was attacked by a group of prisoners led by Tanmay Panda with a iron rod in which he sustained injuries on his head and palms. Soon after the incident the supporters of Azad retaliated and attacked the group.
