Serial blast accused gets one-month bail after 10 yrs
Mumbai, May 16 (UNI) A special court has granted Farooq Motorwala, an accused in custody since 1995 in the 1993 serial bomb blast case, bail for one month on compassionate grounds.
The interim bail was granted on a surety of Rs three lakh by TADA court judge P D Kode on May 12 when the accused pleaded for it, saying he had to perform the marriage of his daughter.
Warning the accused against hampering or tampering with the evidence, the court said the liberty given to him would be withdrawn if he was found misusing it.
Motorwala is facing the charge of conspiracy in the 1993 serial blasts along with many other accused.
He is also charged with sending a co-accused to Pakistan via Dubai to undergo arms training but the co-accused, who later turned approver in the case, returned from Dubai.
Of the 123 tried in the case, 86 are out on bail.
The series of blast in the city on March 12, 1993 had claimed 257 lives and left 713 injured.
