Saint Gobain launches new anti-radiation glass products
Kolkata, May 16 (UNI) Saint Gobain Glass India, the largest manufacturer of glass products in the country, today announced the launch of a unique anti-radiation solar controlled glass product - Sun Ban Reflective Glass - for the domestic consumers.
Saint Gobain, a wholly owned Indian arm of the 25 billion Euro Saint Gobain global conglomerate, also planned to invest Rs 100 crore during the current financial year for further modernisation of its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant at Sriperumbudur in the form of acquisition of some improved technology from abroad.
Speaking more about Saint Gobain's plan to market their products within the country, its national manager, Sales and Marketing, R Subramanian, here today said following the launch of the new anti -sun glare product Saint Gobain's market share in India would go up from around 26 per cent now to over 38 per cent within the next one year.
Refusing to share any financial highlights of the company except saying last year the Saint Gobain group sales was to the tune of Rs 1200 crore, Mr Subramanian said this year they were expecting around 20 per cent growth in sales, compared to about 14 per cent experienced last year.
Referring to his modernisation plan, Mr Subramanian said in fact a total amount of Rs 1400 crore had so far been invested in the Sriperumbudur unit. Of these Rs 650 crores were spent for setting up the first unit and an equal amount for the company's second plant near the same site.
" Rs 100 crore, to be spent for acquisition of new technology, is in additon to this amount, " Mr Subramanian clarified.
Highlghting the unique features of the new product, Mr Subranian claimed that it would absorb as much as 90 per cent of the harmful radiation and heat from the sun without reducing their brightness inside the room.
The new Sun Ban Reflective glass will drastically reduce the electricity bill for the consumers because it helps less consumption of power, Mr Subramanian claimed that it will happen because the new glass allows only a minimum amount of heat from the sun inside the room with the help of the new production technology.
To another query, he said the new Sun Ban Reflective glass was suitable for both corporate and domestic consumers of all sizes in a totally cost-effective manner.
In terms of cost differences the new glass product of Saint Gaobin was only 0.5 per cent costlier than the conventional glass products, Mr Subramanian claimed.
