Rain disrupts life in Tirupati

Tirupati, May 16 (UNI) Sudden heavy rain with gales lashed this temple town today and brought much needed relief to the people, who were witnessing a scorching summer.

Trees and electric poles were uprooted at many places and the town was submerged into darkness for more than five hours due to power failure. However, some of the areas have still not restored power.

The temperature in the temple town was recorded at 41 degrees Celsius.

Many of the drainage in the town overflowed and affected traffic at various places.

According to police, one person was killed due to thunderbolt at Chittoor.
