Quota okay but lathicharge condemnable: Bhajan Lal

Hisar, May 16 (UNI) Haryana Congress president Bhajan Lal today condemned the lathicharge on the medical students in Mumbai agitating against the proposed reservation of OBCs in the Central universities and institutes of higher studies.

''Though I support OBC quota I am against the repression of police on the students and doctors opposing it,'' said Mr Bhajan Lal while talking to reporters here.

In a democracy, he said, every one had the right to launch a stir provided irt was peaceful and non-violent.

Mr Lal evaded questions about the CBI enquiry against former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala in a disproportionate assets case and re-constitution of Haryana Olympic Association. ''I do not know much about these issue,'' he quipped.

To a question, he said the names of district Congress presidents in the state would be announced soon.
