Hyderabad, May 16 (UNI) Srinivas Naik, Deputy Jailer of the high security Cherlapally central prison was today suspended by the Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy, following an expose by a news channel on his covert activities.

Correspondents of the channel posing as realtors approached the Dy jailer and urged him to settle a dispute over a 17 acre land. He assured them he would deploy the services of Moddu Srinu and Rekhamaiah, both accused in the murder of TDP MLA P Ravindra, to intimidate the opponents of the 'correspondents'.

The story was flashed in the TV channel leading to a high-level review of the situation in jails, especially in Cherlapalli by the Home Minister with top officials.

The minister later told newspersons, the officer was suspended and an inquiry was underway. The inquiry would be made into the possible role of accomplices too, he added.

He also said that the government had ordered an enquiry into the general condition of prison administration in the state.
