Perez wins Catalonia stage from long breakaway

CAMBRILS, Spain, May 16: Spaniard Luis Perez today earned his first professional victory by taking stage two of the Tour of Catalonia, after a breakaway of over 100 km.

Spain's Isaac Galvez led in the sprint for second with Norwegian Thor Hushovd in third place.

Swiss rider Fabian Cancellara continues as overall leader.

''This is my first victory as a pro. I always try to win in breaks and today I finally succeeded.'' Perez, who rides for the andalusia-Paul Versan team, told reporters.

The Tour of Catalonia finishes on May 21 in Barcelona.
