Orissa medicos continue cease work agitation

Bhubaneswar, May 16 (UNI) The S C B Medical College students continued to boycott their examination for the second day today to protest the 27 per cent reservation for OBC in higher education institutions.

Medical services in all the three government run medical colleges in Orissa were hit for the fourth day today following cease work agitation by the house surgeons and Junior doctors demanding roll back of the proposed reservation.

About 500 medical students of MKCG Medical College in Berhampur took out a silent candle procession as a part of anti-reservation last night.

The agitated medicos disrupted the health services in the outdoor forcing the authority to close down the casualty. The students of S C B Medical College in Cuttack, however, run a parallel outdoor to treat the patients.

Orissa Health Special Secretary R C Behera who held a high level meeting in Cuttack today assured the Medical College authorities to provide doctors from the periphery cadres to meet any exigency.

Several wards in the SCB Medical College today witnessed a deserted look as the indoor patients preferred to be discharged from the hospital and get admitted in the private nursing home following the agitation by the junior doctors.

The striking medicos today distributed leaflets in Cuttack town seeking public support to their cause. Medical services were also badly affected in the VSS Medical College in Burla as the doctors continued to sit on dharna to voice their protest against the reservation.
