Milkman crushed under tanker, mob goes on rampage

Akola, May 16 (UNI) Irate villagers set a truck on fire and stoned police vehicles to avenge the death of a milkman who was was crushed under a speeding truck near Ridhor village on national highway number 6, nearly seven kilometres from here, police said.

The deceased, identified as Maruti Shankar Agadate was on his motorcycle when an approaching truck knocked him down, police added.

The district superintendent of police (DSP) and the deputy superintendent of police (DySP) rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, sources added.

After the autopsy, the body was taken from the general hospital to his house amid heavy police bandobast.

More police force has been deployed at the accident spot to avert any untoward incident, police said. A case of accident has been registered.
