MCX index closes at 2,372.20 down -15.70 pts

Mumbai, May 16 (UNI) Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) recorded a turnover of Rs 4,629 crore at the close of trading hour today.

The index closed at 2,372.20 down by 15.70 points (-0.66 per cent). The total trades registered were 64,432.

The MCX metal index closed at 2,808.03 down by 5.57 points (-0.20 per cent), while MCX energy index closed at 2,657.68 down by 10.62 points (-0.40 per cent) and MCX agri index closed at 1,650.04 down by 31.75 (-1.92 per cent).

The combined MCX bullion registered a turnover of Rs 3,416.68 crore, including various MCX gold Rs 2,129.20 crore and MCX silver Rs 1,287.48 crore. The total trades recorded for the MCX bullion were 37,077. The open interest for gold was 11,980 kg, while the outstanding position for silver was 3,41,045 kg.

In the metals segment, MCX copper registered a turnover of Rs 528.24 crore with 10,496 trades, while MCX aluminium recorded a turnover of Rs 40.22 crore with 1,203 trades MCX zinc recorded a turnover of Rs 153.96 crore with 1,712 trades, respectively.

In the energy segment, crude oil contracts showed a turnover of Rs 64.78 crore with open interest of 4,00,200 BBL.

Turnover of some of the major pulses traded on the MCX were as follows -- urad registered a turnover of Rs 11.58 crore with 344 trades, chana registered a turnover of Rs 78.09 crore with 1,429 trades, tur recorded a turnover of Rs 11.53 crore with 380 trades, and masur registered a turnover of Rs 10.77 crore with 481 trades.

Meanwhile, potato recorded a turnover of Rs 28.75 crore with 1,181 trades, while mentha oil registered a turnover of Rs 85.80 crore with 4,338 trades.

MCX Gold June 06 closed at Rs 10,253 up by Rs 34 (0.33 per cent), while Aug closed at Rs 10,480 up by Rs 34 (0.32 per cent) and October closed at Rs 10,722 down by Rs 15 (-0.14 per cent).

MCX Silver July 06 closed at Rs 20,595 down by Rs 92 (-0.45 per cent), Sept closed at Rs 21,355 down by Rs 57 (-0.27 per cent), Dec closed at Rs 21,660 down by Rs 444 (-2.05 per cent).
