Man held for attempt to 'rape' of a woman

Imphal, May 16 (UNI) A man, who allegedly attempted to 'rape' a woman at Moirang in Bishnupur District on May 15, was taken into police custody today.

The man working in Assam Rifles had reportedly barged into the house of the woman and threatened to kill her, if she protested.

The woman shouted for help and the locals bashed up the man. He then fled inside the Seven Assam Rifles camp at Sendra Moirang.

The PIB (Defence Wing) said the man was a labourer employed in the Assam Rifles and assured that they would cooperate in the inquiry.

Police has registered a case in this regard.
