JVM not to be tested till Marandi in BJP : Murmu
Jamshedpur, May 16 (UNI) The anti-government tirade of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) would not be 'tested' until BJP national Vice-President Babulal Marandi severed his ties with the party, said Adivasi Adhikar Morcha (AAM) Chief Convenor Salkhan Murmu.
Mr Murmu also castigated the tribal leaders, who joined hands with Mr Marandi advocating abolition of Chhotanagpur Tenancy Act (CNT) and Santhal Parganas Tenancy Act (SPT) in his book 'Greater Ranchi.' Both the Acts were introduced during British period to protect tribal lands in the region and if these were scrapped, the tribals would be evicted from their own land, the AAM leader said.
Mr Murmu said instead of Arjun Munda's one-point agenda of bashing the JVM leaders, he should clear his stand on issues like series of MoUs signed by the NDA goverment without announcing proper rehabilitation packages for the tribals, holding of panchayat electons under PESA Act, reservation and domicile issues and providing official status to Santhali language.
He asked the adivasi leaders to remain alert and keep away from the leaders who exploit the adivasis-moolvasis in the name of development.
Mr Murmu rushed to Delhi following an ivitation from Union Minister of state for Home Manik Rao Gabit to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime minister Manmohan Singh.
Mr Murmu would discuss about the PESA Act, rehabilitation policy and other issues with the two leaders.
