New Delhi, May 16 (UNI) Deprecating the tendency of High Courts to grant interim stays against dismissal orders in service matters, the Supreme Court has directed them not grant such a relief as it amounts to virtually allowing a writ petition during the pendency of the main matter.

Delivering the judgement, a bench comprising Justice A R Lakshmanan and Justice Dalveer Bhandari, last Friday, vacated the interim stay granted by the Madras High Court against the dismissal of one K Raj Kumar by Rama Krishna Mission Vidalaya, Coimbatore.

The apex court also stayed the contempt of court proceedings against Rama Krishna Mission Vidalaya, who had appealed against the high court order. Raj Kumar had also initiated the contempt proceedings against the school authorities for not taking him back in service after the high court order.
