Govt will try to remove LPG shortage in 1month
New Delhi, May 16: The government today said it would try to remove the shortage of LPG in the country within a month.
Petroleum Minister Murli Deora said in Rajya Sabha during Question Hour that in many states, there were indeed waiting 'queues' for LPG. But the government was doing its best to remove the shortage as soon as possible.
Admitting to pilferage by some vested interests in LPG supply to consumers, the Minister said so far government agencies had conducted 30,592 inspections all over the country during the past one year.
About 1180 irregularities had been detected and action had been taken agaisnst 875 offenders.
He said the centre could not take action on its own but was trying to get the relevant laws implemented through state governments.
