Frame uniform policy regarding police transfer and repatriation: HC

Allahabad, May 16 (UNI) Allahabad High Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to frame a uniform policy regarding transfer and repatriation from armed police to civil police.

Justice A P Sahi said such policy to be framed by UP principal secretary home after consultation with the DGP and such authorities as may be desirable and to issue necessary directions for the implementation thereof.

The order was passed on a writ petition of Uma Shankar Tiwari and other constables and have claimed they deserved to be repatriated and transferred to civil police in view of the 525 of UP Police Regulations.

Appearing on behalf of the petitioners, Ashok Pandey submitted the said regulations were not being complied with and there was no consistant policy adopted by the authorities.

The actions of respondents in this regard is discriminatory and violative of article 14 of the Constitution of India.
