Four HM militants killed, two surrendered and two arrested

Jammu, May 16 (UNI) Four hardcore militants of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), including a deputy battalion commander were killed and two terrorists of Harkat-ul-Jehad Islami (HUJI) surrendered in Doda district while two other suspected ultras were arrested by the security forces during past 24 hours in Jammu region.

The army and police sources said a joint team of the army and police, on a tip-off, launched the search operation in Khari tehsil of Banihal in Doda district in which four HM ultras were killed. The encounter was still going on when reports last came in. Three slain ultras have been identified as Aeshad Gujjar, a battalion commander trained in PoK, Mohammd Shafi and Mohammad Yusuf while the identity of the fourth militant was still to be ascertained.

Two AK 56 rifles, two pistols, 12 hand grenades, four Kg RDX, one wireless set, six detonators and over 100 AK rounds were seized from their possession, sources added.

Two HUJI militants surrendered before troops of 23 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Task Force (STF) in Kishtwar tehsil of Doda district.

Surrendered militants were identified as Mehroof Ahmed Mir alias Hafiz alias Inqullabi, a section commander for Paddar and Pervez Ahmed alias Harif alias Umar ul Islam, tehsil commander for Chachha.

Both were active since 1996 and 2000 respectivily.

They handed over two AK-56 rifles, seven magazines, 140 rounds, one 9mm pistol with one magazine and 23 rounds, one .303 rifle with one magazine and nine rounds, one Chinese hand grenade, one hand grenade and one radio set.

The security forces, in a joint operation, arrested two militant at Sokhar Naka (Madoon) under Darhal police station in Rajouri district. They have been identified as Zulfikar and Zulfikar Ali both residents of Topa.

One AK-56 rifle, two Magazine of AK , two hand grenade, one pouch, 56 rounds of AK ammunition, 2 page of holy Quran verses (Ayat), 4 EFC, one bayonet, two purses containing cash wworth Rs.

1540 and Rs. 5950( Indian currency) from these two suspected militants possession.
