Education City land acquisition case hearing on May 18

Chandigarh, May 16 (UNI) Punjab and Haryana High Court today fixed May 18 as the date for initiating final arguments on the bunch of petitions filed against the acquisition of 2007 acres of land of five villages in district Sonipat by the Haryana government for setting up the proposed Education City.

They case was heard in the division bench of Justices Ashutosh Mohunta and Mahesh Grover. During the preliminary hearing itself, the Court had ordered status quo virtually staying further proceedings.

The notification under section 4 of the land acquisition act was issued on November 15, 2005 and it was followed by notification under section 6 of the act in February 2006.
