New Delhi, May 16 (UNI) Delhi Urban Development Minister A K Walia has asked Delhi Metro Rail Corp to properly restore different services on roads that have been transferred back to civic agencies after completion of its work so that there there is no water logging on these streets.

Dr Walia said this after reviewing efforts of Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Public Works Department, Delhi Jal Board, Irrigation and Flood Control Department and DMRC where progress of desilting exercise was also discussed in detail.

Apprehensions were expressed from some quarters about water logging on those roads that had been transferred back to MCD and PWD after completion of metro routes by DMRC, alleging that Delhi Metro was taking little interest in restoring the services of MCD and DJB.

The minister told DMRC to concentrate on restoration of different services so that leakages may not become cause of water logging.

Dr Walia also exhorted all the concerned agencies to initiate more effective coordinated efforts to curb incidents of water logging on roads during the coming rainy season.

While giving strict instructions, he called upon all the agencies to pull up their socks and intensify efforts in desilting drains and make elaborate arrangement to avoid water logging on all vulnerable points so that the Delhiites may not be forced to feel the pinch of water logging in their localities and travelling routes.
