Chandigarh, May 16 (UNI) The rank and file in the Punjab Congress including Deputy Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, all Ministers and MLAs have rallied behind Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and demanded the expulsion of AICC Working Committee member Jagmeet Singh Brar from the primary membership of the party Reacting to Mr Brar's criticism of the Chief Minister over the Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) issue, these leaders in a joint statement urged Congress chief Mrs Sonia Gandhi to expel the former MP. Mr Brar had last week alleged that precious agricultural land of the state was being given to RIL at a throw-away price and he had stated that he would take-up this matter with Mrs Gandhi.

The MLAs alleged that ''Mr Brar was acting more as a 'Campaign Manager' of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) rather than as a responsible member of the highest decision making body of Congress party. It was unfortunate that when the Chief Minister and PPCC President Shamsher Singh Dullo were jointly preparing the party cadres all over the state to give united fight to the SAD in the next assembly elections, Mr Brar was speaking the language of Akalis to create a confusion among the Congress cadres, the statement added.

The MLAs pointed out that if such indiscipline was not curbed this would jeopardise the winning prospects of the Congress in the state at this critical juncture when the Assembly elections are round the corner. ''It is highly deplorable on the part of Mr Brar to act in such a shabby manner just to satisfy his selfish interests'', they stated.
