CAMPCO's Arecanut section posts Rs 21 cr profit
Mangalore, May 16 (UNI) The Arecanut section of the Centrral Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative Limited (CAMPCO) has posted a profit of about Rs 21 crore for 2005-06 by procuring 3.65 lakh quintals of arecanut worth Rs 285 crore and selling 4.30 lakh qunintals worth Rs 345 crore.
Highlighting the company's performance at a press conference here today, CAMPCO President Ranga Rao said the management hoped to maximise the profit during the financial year 2006-07.
He said the Cooperative had purchased 53,216 qunitals of cocoa wet beans worth Rs 11.12 crore and 3,464 qunitals worth Rs 2.94 crore.
Mr Rao said the chocolate factory unit of the cooperative, which was unable to utilise the full crushing capacity, was able to manufacture chocolate finished products and semi-finished products to the tune of 1137 mts and 1,466 mts respectively.
The sales of both the finished and semi-finished products during the year were 1119.32 mts and 1490 mts worth Rs 13.14 crore and Rs 23.31 crore respectively.
The Chocolate factory had also undertaken crushing of cocoa beans during the year and earned a processing charge of Rs 2.46 crore, he added.
