BJP to counter ''ethnic cleansing'' in Doda through dharnas
New Delhi, May 16 (UNI) The BJP today announced to organise dharnas at Jammu from May 20 to 27 with people from all states and regions to counter the designs of fundamentalists and secessionist forces and against ''ethnic cleansing'' of the Hindus from the Doda areas.
A decision to this effect was taken at the BJP Parliamentary Party which also decided to submit a memorandum to President A P J Abdul Kalam after the conclusion of the dharnas, BJP Parliamentary Party Spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra informed mediapersons. The memorandum would highlight the need to take effective steps by the Centre and the Jammu and Kashmir government to provide protection to the minority Hindu community.
He said the party had planned to draw 1,000 people from each state, including all elected representatives to demonstrate in Jammu to reiterate their commitment to the people of Jammu that the nation was with them.
The party's Yuva Morcha will be demonstrating from May 23 to May 30.
Last week, Leader of Opposition L K Advani and BJP President Rajnath Singh had visited Doda in Jammu after the massacre.
