Bihar announces rehabilitation policy for ultras

Patna, May 16 (UNI) The Bihar government today announced a comprehensive rehabilitation programme for criminals and extremists to integrate them with the mainstream of the society.

State Home Department sources said here that the rehabilitation programme would cover all such ultras who put down their arms before the law irrepective of their antecedents. The programme would also cover those extremists who occupied posts of influence in their respective organisations.

The criminals and the extremists who surerndered before the law would get Rs. 10,000 as immediate help and each of them would get Rs 3000 per month if covered under the rehabilitation programme.

Any extremist or criminal would get a maximum amuont of Rs two lakh under the rehabilitation programme. If any criminal or extremist was carrying prize on his head, he would get the said financial assistance along with the prize money if he surrendered.

Provisions like self-employment, house, free education for two children till matriculation and others had been made in the rehabilitation programme.

Promotion amount ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 25,000 would be given to ultras and criminals if they surrendered firearms and explosives.

The rehabilitation programme guarantees full security to family members of the said category of criminals and ultras and also free legal aid during hearing of their cases.
