Ashes ticket demand incredible: Cricket Australia

Sydney, May 16 (UNI) Cricket Australia (CA) today said public interest for the Ashes series starting on November 23 was at an ''incredible level'' and it expects first-day tickets for all the five Tests to sell out within hours of their release on June 1. ''With interest at such an incredible level, competition for tickets will be fierce on June 1. All remaining tickets will then be made available when tickets go on sale to the general public on June 19,'' CA chief executive James Sutherland said in a release.

More than 100,000 people have registered on the board's website for priority access to seats.

Sutherland said day two onwards, tickets for one-dayers and the twenty20 international matches between Australia and England at the SCG, which will be available at the same time as the Tests tickets, are also expected to be popular.

The cost of Test seats ranges from 20 dollar at the Gabba to 140 dollar for top-level tickets at the MCG.

''The average price for a family of four to attend day one of a Test this summer is under 70 dollar, which we believe is exceptional value,'' Sutherland said.
