6 killed, 18 injured in road mishaps
Bangalore, May 16 (UNI) Six people were killed and 18 injured in separate road accidents in Karnataka today.
Five members of a family, including a woman and a nine-year-old girl, were killed and five others injured when a van in which they were travelling, rammed into a stationary truck near Kunigal, about 50 km from here.
Police said the victims, belonging to Madurai in Tamil Nadu, had come to Karnataka on a pilgrimage. The mishap occurred when they were returning to their home town.
The deceased were identified as Dorai Pandian (55), Pongodi (45), G Mala (36) and Sruthi (nine).
The injured were admitted to a hospital in Kunigal.
In the another mishap, one person was killed and 13 were seriously injured when the jeep in which they were travelling overturned after hitting a milestone near Babanagar village in Bijapur district.
Police said all the victims hailed from Dakshin Solapur in neighbouring Maharashtra.
The injured were admitted to the Bijapur district hospital.
