Dhorasoo of Indian origin set to make World Cup debut

New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) Rubbing shoulder with the likes of Zinedine Zidane may be an absurd dream for the likes of Baichung Bhutia, but 32-year-old versatile midfielder Vikash Dhorasoo is very much part of France coach Raymond Domenech's scheme of things for World Cup when ''The Greatest Show on Earth'' kicks-off in Germany on June 9.

Born on October 10, 1973 in Mauritius to Indian parents, Vikash has been in the reckoning for the last six years and the Paris Saint-Germain player is liked by his coach as well -- capped 13 times in Domenech's 18 games in charge.

Vikas has won 28 caps for French under-21 and Under-23 Olympic team and played the 1996 Olympic finals in Atlanta.

He played for Le Havre AC until 1998 before joining Olympique Lyon for a three-year stint there before switching over to Girondins de Bordeaux in and return to Olympique Lyon again.

In the 2003-04 season, Vikash was named The Best Player of Ligue 1 and the following year, he joined AC Milan.

With Domenech parading a star-studded mid-field, comprising Zinedine Zidane (Real Madrid), Patrick Vieira (Juventus), Alou Diarra (Racing Lens), Claude Makelele (Chelsea) and Florent Malouda (Olympique Lyon), it's going to be a tough job to make it to the final squad but Vikash's creative spark is likely to clinch the issue in his favour.
