Vijaykumar wins the opening leg of the MRF Supercross
Pune, May 15: Flambouyant C Vijaykumar of Team TVS Bangalore remained on winning ways producing a worthy performance to outwit a strong field to emerge the winner in the Foreign motorcycle class, the premier event of the opening leg of the MRF National ''Supercross'' championship hosted by the ''Sportstrek'' at the flood lit grounds of the Deccan College here late last night.
A packed crowd of two wheeler motor sport ethusiasts was treated to spellbinding four hours extravengaza of thrills and frills that goes with the sport, Vijaykumar astride indigenous manufactured TVS 125 X was the toast of the day displaying his class while taking the double and the triple jumps and the 120 ft long table top with perfection and in the bargain got the better of his arch rivals Karan Kadam pilotting TVs 125X and Yogesh Barguje riding a Honda CR 450F of Pune to win both the six lap motos garnering a total of 40 points ( 20 pts for each moto).
The TVS ace from Bangalore Vijaykumar was also adjudged the best rider of the day honours for his riding skills and acumen besides the grit and the guts. Vijaykumar also had the distinction of posting a fine double in the eight card event when winning the Indian motorcycles class Group B above 80cc upto 150cc on his TVS Shaolin in the eight lap race. Austin Alvaris of Indore riding Yamaha RX 125 was placed second while R Raja of Bangalore riding Yamaha RX 125 took the third slot.
Pradeep H K of team TVS also posted a fine double in the meet.
The gritty rider won the Class3 for Indian motorcycles above 110cc to 250cc and later capped it by winning the Class 6 for Indian motorcycles above 110cc upto 150 cc on his TVS Fero and thus completed a profitable double .
Much was expected off equally profficient young rider Karan Kadam who donned the Pune colours this year opting out of the team TVS along with seasoned campaigner Barguje but fell short in toppling the applecart of Vijaykumar. Kadam who represnted the team Yamaha for couple of seaons earlier was placed second in both the motos to muster 34 points while teamate Barguje was placed overall third for taking the third place in both the motos scored 30 points.
Yogesh however had the onsolation of winning the intermediate class on his Honda CR 450F, Esshan Lokhande of Pune riding Yamha YZ 125 took the silver while Veer Patel of Baroda riding HondaCR 250 took the bronze.
