Uttaranchal BJP demands CBI probe in CMD Fund embezzlement

Dehra Dun, May 15 (UNI) The Uttaranchal unit of the BJP has sought a CBI probe in a case of alleged misappropriation of the Chief inister's Discretionary Fund.

State BJP General Secretary Ramesh Pokhriyal, referring to the alleged embezzlement of the CMD Fund in Almora district in which 28 FIRs had been filed, told reporters today that there was irregularity in the process of disbursement of the CMD Fund.

''Money from the CMD Fund has not only gone to the people of other states but it has even been disbursed in the name of dead persons,'' Mr Pokhriyal said.

Alleging total violation of CMDF regulations, he said Chief Minister N D Tiwari was acting in an arbitrary manner. ''The Chief Minister is least bothered about checking the authenticity of the list of beneficiaries being produced for his perusal by his office,'' he said.
