UP asked to file counter affidavit in Mukhtar's bail plea

Allahabad, May 15 (UNI) Allahabad High Court today asked the Uttar Pradesh government counsel to file a counter affidavit on the bail application of state MLA Mukhtar Ansari.

Mukhtar, a don-turned-politician has filed a bail application in slain BJP legislator Krishnanand Rai murder case.

Rai was assassinated by armed miscreants in his constituency at Mohammadabad in Ghazipur district on November 29 last year.

His bail application has been rejected by the sessions court, Ghazipur.

Justice Poonam Srivastava asked the government advocate to file counter affidavit annexing statement of witnesses and report of injury fixing May 25, 2006.

Former advocate general Virendra Bhatia appeared on behalf of applicant Mukhtar Ansari.
