Three Naxals killed in encounter in Gadchiroli

Nagpur, May 15 (UNI) Gadchiroli police today claimed to have killed at least three naxalites in an encounter at Madveli in Gadchiroli district.

The police said the special anti-naxal squad had spotted some naxalites with arms between Madvali and Gurnur forests area while patrolling at about 1830 hrs yesterday. Both the police and naxalites fired at each other. However, the naxalites fled from the scene leaving weapons behind as they could not confront the heavy firing from the police.

The police said at least three naxalites were killed in the firing. The police seized two guns, 60 live cartridges, one hand grenade and other explosives in large numbers, they said adding that the combing operation was going on under the direction of SP Sirish Jain.
