Spurious drugs worth over a crore seized, 4 held
Varanasi, May 15 (UNI) Police today busted a spurious drugs racket with the arrest of four persons and recovered of fake drugs worth over Rs one crore from Saptsagar area here.
Police superintendent (city) Anant Deo told UNI here, raids were conducted at 11 medicine shops in Saptasagar, housing the biggest wholesale drug market of east Uttar Pradesh.
Following the raids, a truckload of spurious drugs estimated at over Rs one crore were seized.
While Satish Kumar, Sonu, Babloo Kanaujia and Sona Jaiswalwere arrested, seven others managed to escape.
Preliminary interrogation revealed the spurious drugs were manufactured in Agra district and sent here, Mr Deo added.
Further investigations were on.
