Seven injured in an encounter in Bengal
Kolkata, May 15 (UNI) At least seven people, including two policemen, were injured, in an encounter between police and a group of pirates under Kultali police station in South 24 Parganas last night.
Police here today said some fishermen were attacked by the pirates, who tried to rob the former of their belongings.
One fisherman managed to escape the clutches of the pirates and informed the police, who rushed immediately by a patron boat.
On being challenged the pirates started firing forcing police to retaliate and in the ensuing encounter seven sustained injuries.
At least 14 pirates were arrested and taken to custody.
All the injured have been admitted to a local hospital, police added.
