Revenue officials protest suspension of colleagues

Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, May 15 (UNI) The Chittoor district revenue officials observed "work to rule" from today, to protest against the suspension of three revenue officials in Chittoor.

According to District Revenue Employees Association (DREA) president Sivakumar, the revenue employees would not undertake any additional work and would stick to their duties as per rule.

The government should provide security cover for revenue employees at Stayavedu for acquiring lands for the proposed Special Economic Zone (SEZ), he demanded. The farmers had opposed the project on their fertile lands and resisted revenue staff in land procurement tasks, he added.

However, an appeal is made to the district collector to allow officials for reverification of house sites issued under Indiramma scheme, he said.

Earlier, district collector S S Rawat had suspended three revenue employees of Palasamudram mandal for illegal issuing of a white ration card.
