New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) The Government will introduce a bill in the Lok Sabha tomorrow to amend the Parliament (Prevention of Disqualification) Act, 1959 to bring as many as 46 posts under the purview of deemed ''offices of profit.'' The Bill, which has been circulated among MPs, will be taken by the Lok Sabha tomorrow. It will then be discussed in the Rajya Sabha day after tomorrow, Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R Dasmunsi told reporters here.

He said it was the duty of the Government to reach unanimity among the members till passage of a bill on any major issue and the Government was doing precisely that to get the Office of Profit Bill passed.

''It would be an open discussion on the Bill,'' the Minister said and hoped it would not take longer to have it passed, if not with an overwhelming majority. ''But it will not be passed without discussion,'' Mr Dasmunsi added.

The Minister clarified that the Bill to be brought tomorrow was not a Constitution Amendment Bill but a bill seeking amendment in the existing legislation.

''The Government will have no hesitation in accommodating the views of other parties if some posts have been left out from exemption list and the same are pointed out by them,'' he said.

Controversy over the offices of profit arose when cine star and Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bachchan was disqualified from her membership of the House by the President, on the advice of the Election Commission, for holding office of profit as Chairperson of Uttar Pradesh Film Development Corporation.

Later Congress President Sonia Gandhi resigned her Lok Sabha membership and from the post of Chairperson of the National Advisory Council, as she faced disqualification for holding office of profit.

This was followed by a spate of petitions sent to the Election Commission against over 45 MPs who were accused of holding office of Profit and seeking their disqualfication.
