Rangasamy faces 'delicate task' of finalising ministers

Pondicherry, May 15 (UNI) With the decks cleared for Mr N Rangasamy becoming the Chief Minister of this union territory again after his unanimous election as the leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) here, he now faces the delicate task of finalising the list of Ministers.

With the Congress yet to decide on the list of Ministers, sources said only Mr Rangasamy was likely to be sworn-in on May 18.

The Congress is in a fix with former Chief Minister V Vaithilingam and senior member from Mahe region, Mr A V Sreedharan, demanding ministerial berths this time.

Mr Vaithilingam could not contest for the coveted post in 2001 as his name was linked to a bribery case in which he was cited as accused.

His efforts to become the CLP leader this time had not succeeded for lack of support from the party MLAs following which he was seeking the number two position in the Rangasamy Cabinet.
