Rajya Sabha adjourned till 1200 hrs over Doda killings
New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 1200 hrs when the opposition demand to suspend the Question Hour over the killing of 36 people in Doda in April-May was met with stout resistance from the government.
As soon as the House assembled for the day, Chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat announced that he had received a notice from BJP leaders Murli Manohar Joshi and S S Ahluwalia to suspend the Question Hour over the terrorist killings at Doda and Udhampur on April 29-30 and again at Doda on May 13.
Mr Shekhawat appealed to the members to allow the smooth conduct of the proceedings and let the Leader of the Opposition Jaswant Singh make a statement.
This triggered vociferous protests from the treasury benches.
However, after much cajoling from the Chair, the ruling party members allowed Mr Singh to make a statement.
