Rabies afflicts Gujarat village

Anand, Gujarat, May 15 (UNI) One villager died and several others are afflicted by rabies at Sarol village, about 35 km from here.

The Government has despatched medical teams to the affected village.

According to the health officials here, a villager, Kanubhai Lalji Jadav (40) died today after being bitten by a rabies-infected dog on April 24.

Three other villagers are currently being treated for rabies, the officials said, adding that a vaccination drive has been launched in the village.

On April 14, a rabies-infected dog had bitten as many as 15 villagers and 65 animals in the village.
