MP making special efforts to improve power situation

Bhopal, May 14 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government has claimed that measures taken for providing adequate power in rural areas during the past two years has helped in improving power situation.

As per official information, rural areas and tehsils were being provided nine hours and 15-16 hours power supply each day respectively.

On the other hand, consumers in rural areas and tehsils in Uttar Pradesh received merely 6-8 hours power supply in a day.

Likewise, the district and divisional headquarters in the state were receiving 19-21 hours and 23 hours power supply everyday respectively.

However, the period of power supply to such places in Uttar Pradesh was 14 hours and 18 hours respectively, while in Maharashtra it was 19-21 hours.

Keeping in view the development works being carried out in the state, an eight per cent growth in the demand for power has been assessed. Efforts are being made to make the state self-reliant in electricity.
