Monsoon to reach India on May 30: IMD
New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) The south-west monsoon will reach India on May 30, two days before its normal onset date of June 1 in Kerala, the India Meteorological Department announced today.
''The monsoon onset over Kerala is likely to be on May 30, with a forecast error of plus/minus three days'', an IMD statement said.
Last year, the monsoon arrived over Kerala on June 5 as against the forecast of June 7.
Over the last 50 years, the earliest monsoon onset over Kerala was on May 14, 1960, while the most delayed onset was on June 18, 1972, the IMD said.
