Aizawl, May 15: Frustrated over the Pay Commision report, the Mizoram Secondary School Teachers Association (MISSTA) today destroyed the copies of the report at a high school field here in Zarkawt.

Talking to the newspersons, before destroying the pay commission reports, MISSTA president Rammawia said ''it is really disappointing that the secondary teachers are being supressed in several ways in the pay commission recommendation''.

''The report is not acceptable to us unless the government amends it'', he added.

Among others, the teachers being equalised with primary and middle school teachers, who have much 'lesser workload', he added.

MISSTA further lamented that the secondary school teachers have been subjected to discrimination, suppression and criticism by the government over the years.

Mr Rammawia also complained that while the pay commisison accepted the residency period of ten years mentioned in the recruitment rules in other departments, the same has been rejected against the secondary teachers.

''We have had enough of it. Now we, have decided that it is time to make our own 'seconday education policy'. Let us see if the policy improves the standard of education in the secondary level'',the MISSTA leader said.

He, however, made it clear that they would not go further than destroying the pay commision report.

''We will make our next move in constitutional ways as long as possible'', he underlined.
