Militants kill 5 brutally in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 15 (UNI) Militants slit throats of four and hanged to death one person in north Kashmir and attacked a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) picket in Srinagar downtown today.

Two militants surrendered along with arms and ammunition at Kishtwar in Doda district, official spokesman said.

He said militants kidnapped and later killed Special Police Officer (SPO) Nazir Ahmad and Mohammad Maqbool War at Sadnar, Rafiabad, by slitting their throats early this morning. Their bodies have been recovered, he said.

Militants also abducted and later slaughtered Ghulam Qadir Lone and Mumtaz Gujjar at Chati Bandipora for their alleged links with the security forces.

They hanged to death one Nazir Ahamd at Handwara in the frontier district of Kupwara today, sources said.

Militants hurled a hand grenade towards a security force picket at Kawdara chowk in the downtown city this afternoon causing injuries to five persons, including two CRPF personnel. The injured were hospitalised, he said.

Two militants surrendered along with two AK rifles, seven magazines, 140 rounds of ammunition, one hand grenade, one pistol and two wireless sets at Kishtwar last night.
