MCX index closes at 2,389.04 down -3.26 pts

Mumbai, May 15 (UNI) Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) recorded a turnover of Rs 7,051.22 crore at the close of trading hour today.

The index closed at 2,389.04 down by 77.84 points (-3.26 per cent). The total trades registered were 89,026.

The MCX metal index closed at 2,809.48 down by 149.65 points (-5.33 per cent), while MCX energy index closed at 2,674.02 down by 56.37 points (-2.11 per cent) and MCX agri index closed at 1,683.62 down by 27.50 (-1.63 per cent).

The combined MCX bullion registered a turnover of Rs 5,584.79 crore, including various MCX gold Rs 3,672.33 crore and MCX silver Rs 1,912.45 crore. The total trades recorded for the MCX bullion were 55,752. The open interest for gold was 12,148 kg, while the outstanding position for silver was 3,68,250 kg.

In the metals segment, MCX copper registered a turnover of Rs 640.69 crore with 12,378 trades, while MCX aluminium recorded a turnover of Rs 49.99 crore with 1,534 trades MCX zinc recorded a turnover of Rs 180.86 crore with 2,042 trades, respectively.

In the energy segment, crude oil contracts showed a turnover of Rs 140.21 crore with open interest of 5,57,100 BBL.

Turnover of some of the major pulses traded on the MCX were as follows -- urad registered a turnover of Rs 7.73 crore with 190 trades, chana registered a turnover of Rs 50.24 crore with 1,075 trades, tur recorded a turnover of Rs 11.21 crore with 376 trades, and masur registered a turnover of Rs 11.40 crore with 526 trades.

Meanwhile, potato recorded a turnover of Rs 40.81 crore with 1,621 trades, while mentha oil registered a turnover of Rs 139.17 crore with 6,632 trades.

MCX Gold June 06 closed at Rs 10,205 down by Rs 359 (-3.40 per cent), while Aug closed at Rs 10,426 down by Rs 384 (-3.55 per cent) and October closed at Rs 10,702 down by Rs 380 (-3.43 per cent).

MCX Silver July 06 closed at Rs 20,474 down by Rs 1,525 (-6.93 per cent), Sept closed at Rs 21,292 down by Rs 1,348 (-5.95 per cent), Dec closed at Rs 22,586 down by Rs 912 (-3.88 per cent).
