Losing candidate from capital LAC blames EVMs
Guwahati, May 15 (UNI) Trinamool Gana Parishad(TGP) leader Atul Bora today alleged malfunctioning of EVMs in Dispur constituency, from where he was a candidate, for his defeat.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Bora said problems in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in Dispur constituency had led to his defeat at the hands of Congress candidate Akon Bora by a margin of 813 votes.
Mr Bora said he was not satisfied with the explanation provided by the Election Commission and would take up the matter at the judicial level.
He also castigated Asom Gana Parishad(AGP) president Brindabon Goswami for the failure of the regional parties to oust Congress. He alleged that Mr Goswami was involved in secret negotiations with the BJP even as the AGP forged pre-poll alliance with the Left parties.
Mr Bora further alleged that Mr Goswami had failed in giving proper leadership to the regional forces in the state which had helped the Congress retain power at Dispur.
