Jalabhishek Abhiyan for urban populace from tomorrow
Bhopal, May 14 (UNI) Stressing on the need for conserving water, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today urged urban bodies, people's representatives, voluntary organisations and citizens to take effective steps for enriching ground water reserve.
In his message on the launch of the Jalabhishek Abhiyan for urban areas beginning tomorrow, Mr Chouhan asked people to actively take part in water conservation activities.
He said the state government had decided to raise awareness among urban population about water resources along with the rural areas, an official release said here today.
Describing water as an important resource for a developing economy, he said water crisis was deepening due to increasing biotic pressure on water resources, unmindful exploitation of ground water and uncertain weather conditions.
The Chief Minister said the Jalabhishek Abhiyan's launch in urban areas was aimed at sensitising people towards water resources.
He said urban people would be motivated to voluntarily take up conservation and renovation of water resources besides nourishing a culture of preserving water, the release added.
