Jagmeet Brar's removal sought from CWC

Chandigarh, May 15 (UNI) Punjab PWD Minister Pratap Singh Bajwa today demanded removal of senior Congress leader Jagmeet Singh Brar from the Congress Working Committee (CWC) for criticising the state government for offering land to the Reliance Industries to set up agricultural hubs in the state.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Bajwa said Mr Brar was in collusion with the opposition Akali Dal and was trying to defame the government and the Congress ahead of assembly elections by alleging that the government was ''gifting'' agricultural land to the Reliance.

He said a team of cabinet ministers of Punjab, including himself and Finance Minister Surinder Singla, would soon meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi's to demand action against Mr Brar for harming the interests of the party.

Finance Minister Surinder Singla said Mr Brar, who was a special invitee of the CWC, was ''totally in league with'' Akali Dal leader Parkash Singh Badal and speaking the same language as the Akalis did.

The two ministers alleged that Mr Brar was attacking the Amarinder Singh government due to his own vested interests.

Punjab Congress president Shamsher Singh Dullo, who had recently warned Mr Brar not to attack his own party's government in public, was already in Delhi to apprise the high command of his anti-government utterances.
