Haryana to honour outstanding sportspersons

Chandigarh, May 15: The Haryana government will honour outstanding sportspersons of the state who have got various medals at national and international level in various sports competitions including Commonwealth.

Haryana Governor A R Kidwai would confer the State Sports Awards and Bheema Puruskar at Chandigarh on May 25. Chief Minister Bhupender Singh Hooda would also present on the occasion.

Haryana Sports Minister Phool Chand Mullana said that 'Bheema Puruskar'--best sports awards of the state--would be given to five players and 30 other players would be honoured by giving cash prizes.

He said the winners of the Bheema Puruskar would get Rs one lakh each in cash besides a Bheema Pratima, Angvastra, blazer, tie and scarf.
