Gaur urges industrialists to invest in MP

Mumbai, May 15 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Commerce and Industry Minister Babulal Gaur today urged industrialists here to invest in Madhya Pradesh, where ''the power and road situations are improving''.

''Investments to the tune of Rs 84,000 crore one coming to the State and the state will become self reliant in power sector by 2008,'' Mr Gaur said while speaking on ''Investment Opportunities in Madhya Pradesh'' at the Indian Merchants Chamber here.

Mr Gaur, a former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, said several thermal and hydel projects, to provide 8000 MW of electricity, are underway in the state along with projects like Indira Sagar, Omkareshwar, Maheshwar and others.

Roads for about 1000 Km have been constructed, while another 6,000 km are being laid, he added. He was accompanied by Principal Secretary (Industries) O P Rawat.

Power is available to industries at Rs 4 per unit while, Rs 3.20 per unit for domestic use and Rs 1.25 per unit for agriculture, he said adding that the Government will offer hassle-free approval to projects of the entrepreneurs.
